At the start of 2016 the UK government published a white paper outlining their mental health objectives for young people, and the specific targets schools should aim toward. This was added to in January 2017, with additional expectations for schools to form partnerships with charities and existing mental health providers to create schools that are fully up to date with the latest research into mental health conditions and treatments. This creates a challenge for schools, both in terms of achieving these objectives and in terms of funding additional provisions like those described in the paper.

One-Eighty has recognised these challenges schools face. Perhaps the first challenge faced by schools is finding the time to digest the reports and recommendations produced by the government. In total, over 500 pages of information has been produced, with very little summary documentation to make the process easier.


As a result One-Eighty is offering short 2-hour workshops to talk you through the key bits of content, pick out what your school needs to know from the white papers, with time to help you to identify any particular areas you might want to prioritise.

One-Eighty is also offering a selection of easy-to-digest seminars on different mental health conditions and how schools and teachers can support and respond on a basic level – meeting the requirement set out in the report . These include:

  • Anxiety & Panic
  • Depression
  • Eating Disorders
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Psychosis and Schizophrenia
  • Self Harm
