Team One-Eighty smash it at the Blenheim 7k!

On 21st May, One-Eighty was proud to take part in the Blenheim 7k fun run. The event, which took place in the stunning grounds of world heritage site Blenheim Palace, was a wonderful opportunity to bring together our supporters and runners and raise essential funds for One-Eighty.

We were lucky to have a large team of over 40 runners, who all wore our signature bright orange t-shirts (you couldn’t miss us!) generously sponsored by Pye Homes.

Our youngest team members kicked off the day by running in the children’s 1 mile race, receiving their medals at the finish line.

As the day got hotter the rest of the team then ran, jogged or walked the 7k route around the palace grounds (don’t mention the hills!!), cheered on by a huge crowd of supporters.

While we were running, team members Alice, Katie and Rebecca spoke to visitors and raised funds at our One-Eighty stall; a great opportunity to tell people about the work we do, turning around young lives in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Our grand total…

A few weeks on and our sponsorship money has been gathered in. We are delighted that our team raised a tremendous £9,400!! One-Eighty would like to thank all of our runners and their friends and family who so generously donated. Thank you also to three of our runners’ employers for match funding: Keyloop Power to Change, Oxford PharmaGenesis and Bibby Commercial Finance Limited.

It is through fundraising that we are able to support some of the most vulnerable children and young people. Whether through our intensive one-to-one interventions for those whose mental health, experiences of trauma or family circumstances are preventing them from attending school, through delivering our preventative mental health projects, or through providing training to equip teachers and other professionals to support young peoples’ mental health, our work turns young lives around.

“After years of non-engagement, Emma has been able to open her bedroom door and access her face-to-face sessions. I would work with One-Eighty forever!”

“The progress made with James was a miracle. He had not been attending school but is now on track for his GCSEs.”

Thank you to our runners

Our runners choose to support One-Eighty for a variety of reasons, but all have one goal in mind: to raise money and make a real difference.

Chris said: “Having worked in primary schools for over 30 years, I know that children and young people learn best when they are happy and enthusiastic. I have seen at first hand the important role charities like One-Eighty play in supporting our young people and their families with their mental health, both in school and at home.”

Eleanor said: “I see One-Eighty’s continued impact in ensuring the young people of Oxfordshire (especially the most vulnerable) get the access to education and opportunities they need for the best start in life.”

We are very grateful to all those who choose to give up their time for One-Eighty and the children, young people and their families we support.
