Private Referrals

One-Eighty can provide personal support for you and your child.

We work with a whole range of young people at One-Eighty experiencing many different challenges. We offer an approach that can either be one-to-one for you, your child, or for your whole family. We’re an innovative and interactive service, and we often give you strategies that we would like you to try out at home.

For young children we use behaviour therapies to help them communicate their thoughts and feelings. For teens and adolescents, we use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

CBT can help you make sense of overwhelming problems by breaking them down into smaller parts. It’s the most effective evidence based treatment for most behavioural and emotional challenges.

Our support is flexible depending on what we both agree would suit you, your child and your situation the best.

Private client work at One-Eighty consists of an initial two-hour home visit for assessment, followed by a series of 6 individual one hour sessions which take place weekly at our offices. In Week 4 your therapist will discuss with you whether it would be helpful to extend the intervention by a further block of six weeks.

We charge £150 for the initial home visit (assessment) and £75 per session.

Our private service is part of our charitable work: any income generated through our private services goes directly to subsidise the delivery of support to vulnerable children and families in the community.

Aspects of our support

We differ from many other psychotherapies because it is:

  • pragmatic – it helps identify specific problems and tries to solve them,

  • highly structured – rather than talking freely about your life, you and your therapist will discuss specific problems and set goals for you to achieve,

  • focused on current problems – it is mainly concerned with how you think and act now rather than attempting to resolve past issues,

  • collaborative – your therapist will not tell you what to do; they will work with you to find solutions to your current
